Marc-Andre ter Stegen has become a reason for debate among Barcelona fans. His way of playing is not the same.
Ter Stegen has changed his way of playing. Since the famous error in the game against Celta Vigo at Balaidos, when the German goalkeeper apologised, he has not been himself. He's completely changed his personality and the playing style which characterised him.
In recent games, Ter Stegen has stopped playing with the ball, which he can do perfectly, and kicked it long on more than one occasion. The German stopper, with any sign of problems, opts for the easy option. He sends the ball long and -- if necessary -- out of play, before looking for his team-mates.
It's an alternative which has led to Barcelona, in part, losing that control which they so often have in recent matches. There have, of course, been other factors, too. But Ter Stegen's change is a curious one.
