Ter Stegen admits: Celta Vigo defeat was my fault

The goalkeeper was happy to concede that he messed up in Barcelona's La Liga loss

Marc-Andre ter Stegen has taken responsibility and said sorry. His serious error for Celta Vigo’s fourth goal but the brakes on Barcelona’s second half fightback and raised the flag on Celta’s victory. 

“It’s my fault, I’m really sorry,” the German goalkeeper said, adding: “If I hadn’t made the mistake we could have won this game.”

Asked if he would change his way of playing after his mistake at Balaidos, ter Stegen was clear: “Even though this has happened, I’m not going to change. It’s just happened once.” With respect to if his team-mates tried to lift his spirits after the game, the German said he’d still not spoken with them, but there was no need, recognising once again “this was clearly my fault.” 

He said that after getting back to 3-2 he saw “the possibility to win the game. It’s a tough defeat. We have to pick ourselves up and move forward. We have to work hard and continue on the same path.”
