One of the candidates hoping to take over from Josep Maria Bartomeu as president of FC Barcelona, Victor Font, has taken to Twitter to outline his plans should he win the elections. The most surprising change is his stance on Ronald Koeman remaining in charge of the first team. Previously, he's mentioned Xavi Hernandez as being the man to lead the team under his watch.
"We've worked over the last few years on a complete footballing project, from the vice president until the last coach in the youth academy."
"This project has been designed with Xavi Hernandez as the General Manager. He could also take over other roles in the project at any moment."
"Xavi will be joined by talented people in positions covering Dirección Deportiva (Sporting Direction), Secretaría Técnica (Technical Secretary), Servicios Médicos (Medical Team), Metodología (Methodology), Scouting, Psicología / Comportamiento (Psychology and Behaviour), etc".
"If we have the honour of leading this club, it's vital we implement a consistent, hard-working winning project where all the pieces fit together. We must avoid short-term fixes and not use people who don't increase our chances of success in the medium and long term."
"In this context, if we maintain a positive dynamic in our play and results, the project led by Xavi will back Ronald Koeman and his team to remain in charge."
