The defender is one option to replace Mathieu
FC Barcelona had their second session of pre-season this morning and Ernesto Valverde took the opportunity to “confess” to Marlon, the central defender from the academy.
Marlon will travel with the team to the US, where Barça will play three friendlies, which the youngster may or may not be involved in. The departure of Jérémy Mathieu leaves a place vacant in Barça’s squad and Marlon is in pole position to occupy it.
The chat between Marlon and Valverde was short and routine, as Valverde likes to have regularly contact with his players. Nevertheless, whether Marlon stays with the first team or not depends solely on him. The centre back already has experience from last year when he played two league games and one Champions League game.
