The Chilean international was convinced that he would start against Tottenham and isn't enjoying his bit-part role at Barcelona

Arturo Vidal isn't a happy man. The Chilean international hasn't started the season how he expected to and his discontent was clear to see when he posted an angry message following the important victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Last night was yet another personal disappoinment for him and not for the first time this season.

There are many reasons behind Vidal's unhappiness at Barcelona. The midfielder was convinced that he'd be a regular starter at the club. Arturo knew that Barça were going to change their system against Tottenham and revert back to a 4-4-2. He expected to get the nod to start. He even went as far to tell those closest to him that he would be in the lineup against Spurs.

The disappointment he felt when he saw Arthur's name on the teamsheet instead was huge. That was the reason behind his post following the victory.

We're only ten matches into the season and Vidal has already suffered multiple disappointments. The Chilean also remembers that it was Barça who insisted that he stall his move to Inter Milan in order to sign for the Spanish giants. It was the sporting department which told him he would play a key role in the team which was desperate to recover its groove in Europe. And that's what he did: he rejected Inter's offer and signed for Barcelona.

Another reason for Arturo's frustrations is a result of his own fitness issues. Despite still feeling discomfort in his knee, he doesn't believe that should stop him from having a more regular playing role. The Chilean believes his recovery process is just an excuse to leave him on the bench. He was promised he'd be kept fresh for the big Champions League matches but that hasn't been the case either.

As revealed by SPORT a few weeks ago, Vidal has already told the coaching staff and his agent about his current feelings. At the moment, Arturo is willing to remain patient and wait for his opportunity to stake a claim for a starting place. His behaviour on the pitch has been impeccable and, aside from the odd gesture at substitutions, his only sign of being frustrated came at the end of the match against Tottenham.
