The Chilean is ready to stake his claim for a place in Barcelona's starting line up

Barcelona’s Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal is taking n his new reality with patience. Four games, four benches. He has just landed at one of the best teams in the world and knows he has to earn a starting berth.

He is getting to his best physically and to those closest, he says from now he will be ambitious, he’s not in Barcelona for holidays or a golden pay off before retirement. He wants to play and he wants to play now.

The signings have been kept back by Ernesto Valverde who has kept faith in his team from last season.

However the calendar ratchets up a level with games against Athletic, Tottenham, Valencia, Sevilla, Inter and Real Madrid on the way in the next couple of months.

Valverde wanted to get to the break with nine points from nine and the Spanish Super Cup in the club museum and he has done that.

Barcelona are calm about Vidal’s right knee, which he had some pain in. That has been put down to jet lag and the player is working with Pedro Onate to get over it and play against South Korea.

Barcelona will watch, with the player possibly starting for the first time since March 18 for Bayern against Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

Vidal got injured on April 15 in training and has only made his comeback now.
