Messi explained in an interview about signing on at the club
Leo Messi is at the summmit of world football and every child wants to be like him. But his road to the top wasn't made of roses, and without a doubt his hardest time was when he arrived in Barcelona still a child. His whole family came with him, but after a while he had to make a decision. Even though it was difficult, Leo never doubted himself.
"My brothers were older than me, they had things in Argentina and they wanted to go back;" Messi said in an interview with America TV.
They went back to his native Rosario and his mother and sister soon followed.
"My sister was younger and my parents made the decision that they had to return, so it was just me and my dad," the Argentine crack added.
It was then that his father Jorge had a big dilemma, but he always let Leo decide.
"He asked me 'what should we do? It's your decision,'" Messi recalled.
But Messi never had any doubts.
"I said that I wanted to stay, I was convinced and I knew that I had a great chance (of making it at Barca)."
Messi's father accepted his son's decision, the pair stayed in Barcelona and the rest is history.
