"I'm happy to be back, to feel good physically again and to have adapted to the team"

Luis Suarez was satisfied with his return to football as he scored a brilliant free-kick in Uruguay's 3-0 win over Panama on Friday.

The Barcelona striker missed the Copa del Rey final after undergoing surgery on a knee injury but is fit for the upcoming Copa America.

"Even if it's only a warm-up game for a competition as special as the Copa America, it's always nice to make the fans happy, both with the result and the goal," he said.

"I am really happy. I knew that with time and working hard I was going to make it in time for the tournament. There are still 10 days until we play our first game.

"I'm happy to be back, to feel good physically again and to have adapted to the team."

On his role with Uruguay, he added: "I think someone who's been with the national team for many years needs to try and take on the role which falls on them.

"There is a mix of experience, youth and players that have played in World Cups, and I think you always have to support the new players, make them understand that sometimes it can be tough."
