SPORT poll: Lionel Messi still the king of La Liga
Fans voted for the Argentine as the best player in the division
La Liga 2019-20 is over and people are debating: Did Madrid win the league or did Barca lose it. Maybe it was both. One thing is for sure, Leo Messi is still the indisputable king of the division.
SPORT readers voted as much, with the Argentine also finishing as the top goalscorer and the top assist provider.
Messi got 81% of the vote, while Real Madrid's Karim Benzema is second on 13%.
Leo hit 25 goals and provided 21 assists in 33 games. In 26 of these matches he either scored or set up at least one goal. OPTA say he's the player who generated the most chances (88), shot the most (159), scored the most free-kicks (5) and netted the most hat-tricks (3).
Benzema, by comparison, scored 21 - second top goalscorer - and set up eight goals. The second top assister, Mikel Oyarzabal, gave 11 and scored 10.
