The director of football says the defender remains a Sevilla player

Sevilla director of football Joaquin Caparros has spoken for the first time about Clement Lenglet's possible move to Barcelona.

Lenglet, who is currently on holiday following the end of the season, has reportedly already accepted an offer from Barça, although Sevilla deny knowledge of any agreement.

After confirming Girona's Pablo Machin as the club's new coach, Caparros said that Lenglet is a Sevilla "player" and that "there's absolutely nothing" regarding a potential transfer.

The recently appointed director of football added: "Now we have to sit down and prepare for the season because it starts very soon."

For now, Sevilla and Lenglet are waiting on the outcome of a meeting between the French centre-back and new coach Machin in the coming days before any final decision is taken.

Barça hope to sign him for his release clause, which is around 35 million euros
