Sergi Samper's time at Barcelona could be coming to an end. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Sampdoria have expressed an interest in signing the midfielder this summer.
The Italian team want to reinforce their midfield after turning down the chance to sign Pedro Obiang from West Ham. Now they've set their sights on Barça's former wonderkid, who hasn't had much luck when it comes to staying fit.
The player didn't travel with the rest of the team to the United States as he was suffering from some discomfort in his right knee. Ernesto Valverde has already told Samper that he won't be part of the first team squad next season and it now appears his departure is only a matter of days away.
Sampdoria have been talking with Barcelona about a deal for Samper today, according to Gazzetta. If a move to the Serie A side materialises, it would represent Samper's first venture outside of Spanish football. He's played at every level of La Masia as well as in LaLiga for Granada and Las Palmas on loan.
