The 18-year-old Barça B fullback was successfully operated on this Tuesday and is likely to miss most of the season

The whole of Barcelona is downbeat after hearing the terrible news that Mateu Jaume Morey will be out for six months. The 18-year-old fullback hurt his knee last week and complained of discomfort. After going under the knife today the worst case scenario was confirmed and he's facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Barça B player was one of those chosen by Ernesto Valverde to train alongside the first team during preseason. However this injury now rules him out from not only getting out on the training pitch any time soon, but probably from missing the entire season as he recovers from the surgery.

Although 'Mate' has yet to make his debut for the B side in an official match, Garcia Pimienta was a huge fan of the fullback and expected to use him this year. Unfortunately it appears that the youngster might have to wait until next season before he gets a chance to stake his claim for a place.
