The former Turkish goalkeeper has spoke about beating the virus

Former Barcelona goalkeeper Rüstu Reçber has spoken to Diario AS about his gratitude for the support shown by the Catalan club when he was suffering with coronavirus. 

Rüstu, who played for Barcelona in the 2003-04 season, was critically ill with the virus but has since made a full recovery and been able to leave the hospital. 

"I will not forget everything Barcelona did for me when I was dying of coronavirus," he said in an interview from his home, where he is now undergoing a period of isolation. 

He explained: "The treatment process was really difficult and long for me. There's a cure for this virus that our Health Ministry has implemented. The doctors applied it to me extensively for 10 days and put a lot of effort into it."

Rüstu highlighted the support he received from his family "to win this battle. In the end, it was just a scare and I am really happy." 

On Barça. he said: "They gave me great support during and after the illness. In particular, Carlos Naval and Chemi Teres, who sent me the good wishes of the president and the club. At moments like this, the small details should not be forgotten. I will not forget everything Barça did for me when I was dying of coronavirus. They gave me life.

"I want them to know that I will always be at their disposition. I want to express my infinite gratitude to everyone, especially Mr. Bartomeu."
