Korman says he was never contacted by Barca to replace Luis Enrique

The former Barcelona player was taking part in a golf competition

Everton coach Ronald Koeman has had the chance to speak about new Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde while taking part in a golf competition organised by the Cruyff Foundation.

Koeman's response when asked about the former Athletic Club coach was curious, if not surprising.

The hero of Barcelona's European Cup win in 1992, who was also linked with the job, said: "What do you want me to tell you about Valverde? We will see. What I can say is that no-one from Barcelona contacted me to be the coach."

On Real Madrid's Champions League win, the Dutch manager said: "Real Madrid were the best team in the Champions League this season, they're worthy champions.

"However, I don't think you can compare them with [Pep] Guardiola's Barça. That was an excellent team."
