Ronald Koeman: Alena has decided he wants to leave
The Dutch coach spoke about the midfielder and hinted towards Riqui Puig too
Ronald Koeman, in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Athletic Bilbao game, spoke of the absence of Carles Alena. The coach confirmed he doesn’t count on the midfielder and he has the permission of the club to negotiate his future elsewhere - at Getafe on loan.
Koeman also sent a message to Riqui Puig, when speaking on the subject.
“Alena has permission from the club to look for a way out,” said Koeman. “When it’s all done I can give my opinion but there are players who can decide whether they stay or not. He has decided to look for an exit.”
That refers to Puig, whom Koeman offered the chance to leave in the summer but he decided to stay and try and earn his place in the team, which has not happened.
