Barça's fomer sporting director sealed the deal before leaving this summer

Former Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has spoken to Televisió de Catalunya (TV3) about, among other things, the signing of Arthur Melo.

Robert was one of the first people to watch Arthur for Gremio and recommend his signing. The Brazilian, along with Clement Lenglet, were two deals Robert tied up before he was replaced by Eric Abidal.

After admitting that "I would have liked to continue at Barça, although I had an idea [I wouldn't]," he spoke about Arthur, saying that "when you see him play you know that's for Barça. Urbano and I were certain. He was a player [Barça] had to sign."

Meanwhile, on Leo Messi, for many the best player in history, Robert had no doubts: "I've never seen a more intelligent player than Leo. Everyone knows who's the best. Rivals do, too. He's a candidate to win every competition he plays in."
