De la Fuente has been impressed by Puig's progress at Barcelona this season
If Ansu Fati was the headline addition to Spain's senior squad announcement than Riqui Puig holds the same accolade for the U21 side. Just as Luis Enrique picked Ansu, de la Fuente is ready to see what Puig can do on the international stage.
"He's grown a lot as a player and could bring a lot of talent and quality (to the team). He can adapt to the style of football and now it all depends on him," de la Fuente said. "If we've called him up it's because we believe in him and now is the time to show that potential."
Other Barça players on the list include Iñaki Peña, Pedri and Carles Aleñà. On Pedi, de la Fuente explained: "We are delighted to have such young players available at a higher age group. The most difficult part comes next and we are going to help him."
