The young midfielder had a successful loan spell with Twente and feels ready to make the step up this season

Of all the players who went out on loan from FC Barcelona last season, Oriol Busquets is the one who gained the most from his temporary home. The young midfielder was a starter for FC Twente and developed better playing in a higher standard of competition. Ronald Koeman actually saw Busquets perform whilst he was in Holland, something which puts him ahead of other youngsters.

This is an important moment for Busquets as he feels now is the time for him to challenge for a first-team place. He will be hoping to replace the man with the same surname as him, Sergio Busquets, after being a regular for Twente last year. He played 23 times and showed glimpses of his emerging talent in a Dutch side which didn't quite match his own ability.

The loan deal with Twente didn't include an option to make the move permanent due to high reputation Oriol has at La Masia. He doesn't want to leave this summer, despite having plenty of offers on the table from LaLiga teams. He wants to complete preseason with the first team and prove to Koeman he has what it takes to make a difference at Barça.
