Remember Rey Manaj? Striker could bring Barça money this summer
Manaj has spent the season on loan at Spezia Calcio and they could make deal permanent
One of the players set to return to Barcelona following a loan away is Rey Manaj. But in contrast to other loanees, like Trincao, Collado, Iñaki Peña and Pjanic, the Albanian striker could make a permanent move to Spezia Calcio. He has enjoyed his time in Italy and is urging them to negotiate with Barça.
Spezia are satisfied with Manaj's performances. He has played 30 league games, scoring five goals to help them maintain their place in Serie A. The option to buy is €2.7 million, but they will try to negotiate is down or ask for another loan. They paid €300,000 for this year's loan. The problem is his contract expires in 2023.
Manaj has other offers but his priority is to stay where he is. He hopes Barça will meet with Spezia to discuss a deal. If it's not possible, he will look elsewhere. Barça must also explore what's best for them.
The player knows he will not have a place in Xavi Hernandez's team and won't return to the B team, where he scored 16 goals in 31 games in 20-21. He never actually played an official game for the first team but did impress in pre-season, including scoring a hat-trick against Nastic.
Even though the numbers are not big, everything helps and Barça hope to make a profit on a player that cost €700,000 in 2020 from Albacete.
