Madrid face Atletico and it could end up being decisive in the title race
Barcelona could have an unexpected ally in the title race. Next weekend Barcelona, who are 12 points ahead of Atletico having played one extra game, could be nine points ahead of them if Diego Simeone's side beat Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday.
Assuming that will be the case, the lead could go back to 12 points if Real Madrid beat their rivals Atletico next weekend at the Santiago Bernabeu and Barcelona beat Leganes.
Barcelona host Leganes on Saturday night, 8.45pm, while Madrid and Atletico clash on Sunday, 4.15pm.
THE DILEMMA
A victory for Real Madrid in the derby will not only accelerate Barcelona's title triumph but also make it possible that Madrid have to give Barcelona a guard of honour in the Clasico at Camp Nou on May 6. By then, if Barcelona win the rest of the their games to that date (it's match 36), they will already be champions.
