The Brazilian's injury problems have seen him miss crucial matches in their attempts to win the Champions League

Neymar Junior's future remains up in the air this summer after he left PSG know he wants to return to FC Barcelona. At the Camp Nou, they hope to link Neymar up with Antoine Griezmann as they look to launch their own assault on the Champions League. PSG are open to selling the Brazilian but not just because he's after a move away but because they've been ultimately disappointed with him.

There's no doubting his ability but PSG's issue is with the effort, or lack thereof, from Neymar since he joined the club. The Brazilian has missed crucial periods of football in both of his seasons at PSG, particularly in the Champions League.

Neymar has fallen out with various teammates due to his 'ego' and is frustrated with the lack of competition in Ligue 1. This has seen him adopt a lifestyle more familiar with a pop star than a world-class sports star.

Part of the Neymar 'pack' involves how protective he is of his global image and brand. Those major contracts have been reduced since he joined PSG and he remains locked in a court case with Barcelona over unpaid commission fees. He's also been dealing with allegations of rape.

MORE PROFESSIONAL

PSG believe Neymar has taken his foot off the pedal ever since he moved to Paris. His nighttime activities mean he wasn't in the best condition for training either. Add to this his constant flights back home to Brazil for business reasons, which haven't pleased management.

Neymar has suffered nine injuries since making the switch to PSG. The latest saw him ruled out of Brazil's Copa America campaign. Some are as a result of strong challenges from frustrated opponents. Others are attributed to the fact he doesn't rest properly due to his active lifestyle.

A NEW OPPORTUNITY

Neymar is aware of the negative spiral he currently finds himself in. He remembers his time at Barcelona were he felt protected and happy, both on and off the pitch, and working alongside Lionel Messi.

The forward believes a return to the Camp Nou could help him recover what he's lost in Paris and allow him to concentrate on his football again. Neymar's ultimate goal is to establish himself amongst the best in the world and get back into the fight for the Ballon d'Or.

If a transfer does come to fruition, Barça and football will recover one of its greatest stars.
