Pique overtakes 'Tarzán' Migueli in all-time Barcelona appearances

Gerard Pique will replace the legendary Migueli on the all-time list of appearances for Barcelona on Saturday, moving up to sixth position in the rankings. 

Migueli made 549 appearances for the Blaugrana in the 1970s and 1980s. Pique will make his 550th appearance against Alaves this weekend -- and there are no doubts about his participation as Barça only have two available centre-backs for the game. 

Pique, who missed the midweek win over Juve through suspension, reached 550 in his 13th season with the first team after re-joining Barça from Manchester United in 2008. He had first joined the club as a 10-year-old in 1997 before leaving La Masia for England in 2004. 

Since he returned to Barça for €5 million, he has been a regular under every coach, from Pep Guardiola through to Ronald Koeman, passing through Tito Vilanova, Gerardo Martino, Luis Enrique Martínez, Ernesto Valverde and Quique Setién.

Pique's 549 games to date have been spread across La Liga (351), the Champions League (115), the Copa (61), the Spanish Supercopa (15), the Club World Cup (5) and the European Supercopa (2). He has scored 46 goals, won 29 trophies and won eight leagues, three Champions Leagues and six Copas. 

Migueli, nicknamed Tarzan by the Argentine Juan Carlos Heredia, made his debut in 1973 and played 391 league games, 60 Copa matches, 42 UEFA Cup games, 24 European Cup Winners' Cup games, 10 League Cup games, three Spanish Supercopa games and four European Supercopa games for Barça.

LEADERS 

Pique has a contract at Camp Nou until he's 37, so could yet move up more positions in the rankings. Next in his sights is Sergio Busquets, although as he's still playing Carles Puyol may be a more realistic target. 

Ahead of Pique are Xavi (767), Messi (738), Iniesta (674), Puyol (593) and Busquets (586).
