Official: Ter Stegen renews his contract with Barcelona until 2022
Marc-Andre ter Stegen's contract was due to expire in 2019
The goalkeeper's release clause is now 180 million euros
Barcelona have agreed a new contract with goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
A statement from the Catalan club on Monday said: "FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with the player Marc-André ter Stegen to extend and improve his contract until 30 June 2022.
"His buy out clause now stands at 180 million euros. His new contract will be signed on Tuesday 30 May at 1.30pm CET at the Club Offices."
Ter Stegen joined Barca from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2014 and has just completed his third season with the club.
In total he made 46 appearances and was the No. 1 goalkeeper in the Champions League and La Liga, with Jasper Cillessen playing Copa del Rey games.
The curious detail in ter Stegen's new contract is that his release clause rises from 80 million euros to 180 million euros, showing how highly the club rate him.
One of few players with big international committments this summer, ter Stegen will not join up with the Germany squad for the Confederations Cup in Russia.
