Quique Setien will have Suarez available for the first time since he took charge

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has been cleared to make his return to competitive action following knee surgery in January.

Suarez has not played since the Supercopa defeat to Atletico Madrid in January. He thought he'd said goodbye to the season when he went under the knife but the coronavirus pause has given him another chance to contribute to Barça's season.

"Luis Suarez is ready to return," Barça said. "147 days after having surgery the Uruguayan striker has received the all-clear from the club's medical services and is available for selection as Barça get ready for the return to action on 13 June at 10pm CEST away at Mallorca."

As revealed by SPORT, Suarez's green light came on Saturday after a special training session at Camp Nou. While Lionel Messi worked alone, Suarez trained as normal with the team.

Suarez had an operation on Jan. 12 and after nearly five months of recovery work, mainly during the lockdown, he is available for coach Quique Setien for the first time.
