Official: Director of football Alemany to leave Barcelona this summer

A bombshell at Barcelona! Mateu Alemany, the director of football, will leave the club on 30 June to start a new professional project, according to a press release from the club.

Despite having a contract until 2024, Alemany has told FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta that he intends to move on, but has guaranteed that he will complete the entire summer market with the club. 

Therefore, despite the fact that he will be released from his contract as of 1 July, Mateu has committed himself to closing all the first team deals this summer, even if there are some that are made at the last moment of the market.

According to SPORT, Mateu has taken the decision after receiving a financially unacceptable offer. 

Barcelona will soon announce the changes in the structure of the football executive once Alemany's departure has been finalised.
