No one reserved as Valverde picks strongest Barça squad for Sporting
The Barcelona coach has not called on any B team players
The Pique and Vermaelen partnership may well be trialled
Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde decided to pick his strongest available squad for the Champions League game against Sporting Club at Camp Nou on Tuesday.
Despite having already qualified for the next round as group winners, Valverde decided against calling up any of the Barça B players who trained with the first team on Monday.
Carles Aleña, Oriol Busquets, Adrian Ortola and Jose Arnaiz all featured in training, although the latter is not registered for the Champions League.
Remember that Valverde is missing an umber of first team players through injury: Rafinha, Ousmane Dembele, Javier Mascherano, Andres Iniesta, Arda Turan and Samuel Umtiti.
Iniesta's injury is a minor one, luckily, and he will be back for Villarreal on Sunday.
The squad is: Ter Stegen, Cillessen, Sergi Roberto, Semedo, Pique, Vermaelen, Digne, Alba, Sergio Busquets, Rakitic, Aleix Vidal, Deulofeu, Denis Suarez, Paulinho, Andre Gomes, Messi, Alcacer and Luis Suarez.
