The Belgian centre-back could arrive in January as cover for the injured Umtiti

Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany is another player on Barcelona's list as they look to potentially cover the absence of Samuel Umtiti.

According to British newspaper The Mirror, Barça are thinking about Kompany, a player who they tried to sign many years ago.

Kompany, 32, is out of contract with City next summer, but everything suggests he will sign an extension. The Mirror say it's unlikely he will move to Barça because of the weight he carried in the English club's dressing room and his good relationship with coach Pep Guardiola.

In August, Kompany will celebrate 10 years with City and it seems unlikely he will leave the Premier League champions before then. He's preparing a testimonial to celebrate that anniversary, with the proceeds going to charity.

Ivanovic

It's for that reason that the Mirror say Barca are also focusing on former Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, now at Zenit Saint Petersburg in Russia. The 34-year-old was at Chelsea between 2008 and 2017, winning three Premier League titles and one Champions League.

As an international for Serbia, he took part in the World Cup in 2010 and 2018. His contract with Zenit expires in June of 2019.
