Miralem Pjanic willing to take pay cut to return to Juventus

The Bosnian midfielder has struggled this season at Barca and the club are trying to can him

Miralem Pjanic knows that Ronald Koeman doesn’t count on him and, at 31 years old, the best thing that can happen is he leaves Barcelona for the next stage of his career. Barcelona need to get him off the wage bill too. There is just one piece of the puzzle left - for the Bosnian to accept a pay cut.

Per La Gazzeta dello Sport, Pjanic is ready to return to Juventus, where he played before coming to Barca as part of a swap deal for Arthur Melo. In Turin he played 178 games, scoring 22 goals and giving 41 assists. Beyond the numbers, he became known as one of the best in the world in his position there. Juve are interested in getting him back, if they can get rid of Aaron Ramsey.

With a contract until 2024 at Barca, Pjanic’s exit is not imminent. He needs to accept a lower wage elsewhere to make it possible to move him on. He cost 60m euros plus 5m euros in variables so there’s plenty of that left to amortise.
