Midfielder Ivan Rakitic snubs PSG: "I am staying at Barcelona"

"I am staying." Ivan Rakitic confirmed after Barcelona's win against Real Valladolid that he's turned down the chance to sign for Paris Saint-Germain and will remain at Camp Nou, although, in principle, he will not get a new contract.

Ernesto Valverde, therefore, will continue to count on one of the key players in his team. 

Asked about the offer from PSG, the Croatian footballer recognised that "there were offers to study and evaluate, but playing for Barça is the biggest thing that exists. I am staying." He also said that his family played a key role in the decision because "we are really happy in Barcelona." 

Rakitic has reaffirmed his committment to the club. Despite the mega offer from the French side, the midfielder said that "no one can offer me what I have here. I am at the best club in the world." 

The midfielder also said thanks to Valverde, who fought for him to stay and made as much clear in Friday's news conference. "I really appreciate what the manager said," Rakitic concluded.
