Barça and Mediapro were unable to reach an agreement... due to Sandro Rosell

Mediapro offered Barcelona 300 million euros for the Camp Nou's naming rights. Jaume Roures, the founder of the company, confirmed as much in an interview with COPE.

According to Rourse, the reason the club didn't reach an agreement with the company was because of Barça's demands for the company to drop an espionage complaint against former president Sandro Rosell.

The 300 million offer from Mediapro was to have their name linked to the stadium for 20 years. It's an amount which would have paid for 50 percent of the Espai Barça project, a 600 million generation of the ground's area which includes the Camp Nou revamp.

Barça's initial plan was for the project to be paid for in three parts: 200 million in credit, 200 million from the club's regular revenue and 200 million from selling the naming rights.

According to El Pais, there were four meetings between Barça and Mediapro, with president Josep Maria Bartomeu present. But talks ended when the Rosell request was made.

"We negotiated with Barcelona with the objective of [buying the naming rights], but talks broke down because of that demand. The plan was for 20 years of naming rights," Roures told COPE.
