Suarez scored the winner against Valencia on Thursday

The second leg is at Mestalla next week

Luis Suarez, who scored the goal in Barcelona's 1-0 win against Valencia in the Copa del Rey, lamented the fact his side were unable to build a bigger lead going into next week's semi-final second leg at Mestalla.

"It's the minimum advantage. A 1-0 win isn't much, but there's the plus that they haven't scored. They didn't create much danger, they respected us and that's beneficial for us," Luis Suarez said after the game at Camp Nou.

"The tie is still open. There are still 90 minutes to be played, Valencia are really strong and we're also talking about a cup semifinal."

Suarez added: "Knowing that we have a lot of chances, they tried to keep things tight. When they do that, there's not much space for us. However, in the second half we tried to build a bigger advantage."

As for the second leg next Thursday, Suarez said that "we will have to plan well. They're going to press a lot and we can't be asleep. We have to be switched on."

The Uruguayan's goal was his 16th in his last 16 games, confirming his return to form, and he said "that it serves to help the team is the most important thing. Now we have to keep going in the same way."
