Liverpool have not yet opened door to Geo Wijnaldum
Thiago Alcantara is a Reds target and Barca want the Dutchman in
Georginio Wijnaldum's transfer is the plan but Barcelona have not been able to negotiate with Liverpool formally yet. The player has given the OK to come to Camp Nou, but Liverpool will only let him go if they can get Thiago Alcantara. Furthermore, Barca have to let some players leave too.
Telegraaf in Holland reported the move was close. Barca denied the imminence of the move because even though Liverpool want to sell with just a year to go on his contract, they first want to seal the Thiago move. They have not reached a deal with Bayern for the Spaniard.
Barca don't want to pay more than 15m euros for Wijnaldum.
The Catalans know this is going to be a long market, and they have to have nerves of steel to get the best prices. Ronald Koeman understands and agrees that waiting is the best strategy.
Barca also want to get rid of Arturo Vidal, while Monchu and Rafinha might be sold too, and Koeman has to decide what he wants to do with Carles Alena. Setien wanted him but the cantera player has offers and will only stay if he has an important role in the new project.
