The meeting between Bartomeu and Jorge Messi ends with no agreement
The Barça president and Leo's father spent hours talking about the future of the greatest of all-time
It was the meeting the world was waiting for. Ever since Lionel Messi sent a burofax to FC Barcelona telling them he was exercising the 'exit clause' in his contract, the two sides needed to sit down and discuss the situation. Jorge Messi, Leo's father, arrived in Barcelona this morning and spent the afternoon locked in talks with Josep Maria Bartomeu.
According to SPORT sources, the meeting between Bartomeu and Jorge Messi ended without an agreement being reached. The club president wants to convince Leo to stay whereas Jorge is trying to find a way for his son to leave. Barça director Bordas also sat in the meeting whilst Jorge was accompanied by his other son Rodrigo and his lawyer Jorge Pecur.
The conversation remains open on both sides as they look to find a solution. At the moment, Leo still hasn't returned to preseason training with Barça.
