The Barça striker spoke to the Bayern midfielder as a friend but not about professional issues

When FC Barcelona were waiting for LaLiga to inform them of their maneuvering capacity to reinforce Xavi Hernández's squad last summer, Joshua Kimmich's name was the one that resonated most strongly to replace Sergio Busquets in the defensive midfield position.

However, in the end, the Catalan club had to opt for a much more economical profile, Oriol Romeu, and gave up on the Bayern player because they did not have the necessary financial muscle to pursue his signing.

In an interview given to 'Sport Bild' and reported by the newspaper 'AS,' Robert Lewandowski was asked about this matter. The Polish striker stated that he spoke with his former teammate and friend but did not try to "entice him" to sign with Barcelona.

"I only talked to him about his situation at Bayern. There was a lot of discomfort and uncertainty there over the last few months and that can affect a team. We only spoke as friends and former teammates," said the forward, who feels like a leader but still wants to "be even more of one" in Xavi's project.

'Lewy' also analysed his scoring performance at the beginning of the season and said that, despite being aware "that everyone only looks at goals and records," at Barcelona, "what matters to me is being part of the game and having fun playing with the team, even without scoring in every match."

He added: "I want to enjoy every minute on the pitch because I know my time as a footballer is not eternal. Now I have a slightly different role; it's not just about executing as I did at Bayern."

Finally, the Barcelona striker has blessed his successor at the Allianz Arena, Harry Kane. He has advised him to stay calm in a first year "that won't be easy for him," but also stated that, even if he goes through "difficult phases," "he is one of the best forwards in the world, very mature, and will help the club."
