The league have not yet been notified of FIFA's official opposition

La Liga and their president Javier Tebas will fight FIFA's opposition to the league's proposal to take the Girona-Barcelona fixture to Miami in the new year.

In partnership with Relevant Sports, La Liga plan for Barça's trip to Girona in January to be played in the United States -- with the support of both clubs.

However, the Spanish FA (RFEF) have opposed the plans and now FIFA have said that they will stand in the way of a Spanish game being played abroad.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino said on Friday that world football's governing body were not in favour of the proposal.

La Liga say they will take the matter to the Court of Arbirtration for Sport if they have to -- although they have not yet received official confirmation from FIFA yet.

“Should we receive official notification from FIFA that they prohibit the match, we will take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport urgently,” a La Liga spokseman said.
