There has been resistance to La Liga's plan to take a game to the United States

FIFA will look into La Liga's proposal to take Girona's game against Barcelona to Miami at a meeting this Friday at the Kigali Convention Centre in Rwanda.

Everything suggests that FIFA will prohibit the game taking place in the United States, lending their support to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), who have opposed La Liga's plans from the off.

FIFA president Gianni Infantion appears to be on the side of the RFEF, who are presided over by Luis Rubiales.

Girona's game against Barça is one of the things on FIFA's agenda for Friday's meeting, included as point 5.3 of the order of the day under the heafding: "LaLiga game outside of Spain in 2018/19 season."

It will be one of the last issues tackled, while world football's governing body will also look into the creation of a Mini World Cup, which would feature eight teams and take place every two years.
