Junior Firpo winks at Barca after SPORT's front page
The player says he's no longer drawn in by Real Madrid more than Barca
Junior Firpo is one of Barcelona’s big targets for the left-back position as SPORT have been reporting. The Real Betis player was asked if he likes Real Madrid by agency EFE and Firpo said: “I’ve never said that I like Madrid more, I said in that moment that they could draw me in because my father is from Madrid, but not any more. What pulls me in is Betis.”
The player added that “the fact my father is more of a Madrid fan means that at home you always watch that team, but nothing else. I’m a Betis fan since I was little and I’m grateful to my club for the chance they’ve given me in professional football.”
Junior said that he didn’t know about any Barca interest and he’s focus on U21 Euros with Spain.
“The only thing I’m thinking about is playing in the Euros,” said Junior. “I have a contract with Betis and we’ll see what happens after this championship. Now I only want to think about that.”
Barca are in negotiations with Betis to sign the defender who has been linked with Man City and Real Madrid too. He’s grown a lot in recent years and his profile fits the Barcelona game.
