Josep Maria Bartomeu: We trust in Valverde
The president defended the coach and praised the team for their season
Josep Maria Bartomeu spoke at the 2019 senators meeting and said that Barca’s season should be considered ‘very good’.
“We’re in the final stretch of the season and we started well by winning the Spanish Super Cup, that they remember when we lose but not when we win. La Liga, won with undoubtable superiority, three weeks before the end, and on Saturday we will play in our sixth consecutive Copa del Rey final to try and win the ninth double in our history.
“The Champions League created a lot of disappointment because some Barca fans are unsatisfied with the league, Super Cup and a Copa del Rey final place, and the UCL semis. Why? Because since 2004 we’re become accustomed to winning.”
On coach Ernesto Valverde, Bartomeu said: “We have to value the discreet way that Ernesto Valverde has managed the group, we trust in him firmly. For that, I think it has been a very good season.”
