Zhang and Marotta want to offer him an improved deal and extend his contract until 2025

Inter Milan's president Steven Zhang their director of football Giusseppe Marotta has designed a strategy to keep Lautaro Martinez at the club. FC Barcelona are keen to have the forward lead their attack, but Inter won't give up without a fight according to 'Gazzetta dello Sport'.

Lautaro's agents are expected to arrive in Milan on Tuesday and will meet witht he club. This is where Marotta will present a new contract offer to the player in the hope he'll extend his stay at Inter.

The renewal would see Lautaro extend his contract until 2025 and earn around €6m per season alongside other objectives.

The talks wouldn't only involve an improved salary but the idea of making Lautaro the image of the club going forward. Zhang wants Inter to become a winning project and feels Lautaro is the man to lead that revolution on the pitch. Barça are ready to sell Luis Suarez in order to create space for Lautaro.

THE ISSUES INTER WILL FACE

Inter want to remove the €111m buyout clause with this new deal but Lautaro is unlikely to accept that. The original reason this was included in the contract was so he could be sold at a fair market price. This is why even increasing the clause is unlikely to happen.

Inter want an agreement in place and signed but only after the transfer window closes on the 5th October.

If Lautaro were to turn down the new offer, it would be a clear sign that he sees his future away from the club.
