FC Barcelona are relaxed about Ansu Fati's future at the club

There are very few players in the current Barça first team who are considered 'untouchable' but one of those is certainly Ansu Fati. As we've seen in recent weeks, Lionel Messi is another alongside players such as Frenkie de Jong and Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Ansu's rise to the elite in world football hasn't gone unmissed and there has been plenty of interest in the youngster. However, all that interest has been met with the same response: the academy star isn't for sale.

PLENTY OF OFFERS

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund were the two sides who showed the greatest interest in Ansu. United were willing to pay around €100m for the winger whilst Dortmund wanted to loan Ansu with an option to buy him next year. Without a genuine director of football or a vice president, Josep Maria Bartomeu took control of the situation and insisted Ansu wouldn't be sold for any price.

Barça won't negotiate when it comes to Ansu Fati. Not long after he broke onto the scene was he given a new contract which saw his buyout clause go up to €170m. This was in December 2019 when he was told that he'd officially remain part of the youth team for the rest of the season, before being promoted to the senior side the following summer. Once he's officially part of the first-team squad, his buyout clause will rocket up to €400m.

UPCOMING MEETING

Ansu Fati's wish, which is the same as the club's, is to make that step up and establish himself at Barça. However, since that initial agreement back in December, Ansu has changed agents. He left Rodrigo Messi and Francesco D'Argenio and opted for Jorge Mendes instead.

Even with that change, Barça are confident of following the same plan they had for Ansu. His recent debut for Spain only proved that this is the beginning of the young forward's story. Both sides are happy to sit down and discuss what's next for Ansu at Barça. The player remains happy at the club and is excited to start the new season.
