Iniesta: "The match against Barça will be very special for me"
The former blaugrana captain has spoken to the press about his current side, Vissel Kobe, facing his former side in a preseason friendly
FC Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has spoken to the press in Japan after he was named as captain of Vissel Kobe.
His current side will face his former one in the summer as Barça embark on their Japan Tour 2019. Iniesta, who played 674 times for the Catalan giants, will take meet them for the first time since heading over to Japan.
"It'll be a very special match for me to take on Barça, the team were I grew up. It'll be a special match for the Vissel Kobe fans and we'll try to enjoy it and produce a fantastic match," Iniesta said.
Not surprisingly he was asked about a possible return to Barça. "I made the decision to leave because my time was over. I wanted a different challenge, to play in a different country in a different league. My mind is fully focused on the job at hand here. In the future, we'll see, I might return to Barcelona but not as a player."
Life is going well for Iniesta in Japan as he was recently named captain at Vissel. "It's an honour for me to be the captain and that the club trusts me with the armband."
David Villa and Sergi Samper will line up against FC Barcelona during their Japanese tour as well.
