Guardiola: Messi is going to stay and end his career at Barcelona

The Manchester City coach once again played down reports linking him with a move for Leo

Guardiola and Messi. Again. There aren’t many press conferences where the Catalan coach doesn’t get asked about the player he considers is the best in the world. And on Friday it was no different.

After the debate surrounding Messi’s contract renewal at Barcelona, Pep was once again asked about his possible signing for Manchester City. And as he has done on previous occasions, his vision for Leo’s future is clear: “I've said this more than once: Messi is going to end his career at Barcelona.”

The quotes came in Guardiola’s appearance in front of the media to preview Saturday’s game against Burnley. He added that he wants Messi to remain at Camp Nou until the end of his playing days: “That's what I profoundly wish, that he ends his career in Barcelona.”

It’s not the first time Guardiola’s confessed his desire for Messi to stay at Barça. He said it on the day of his presentation as City boss and also before the Champions League game between the two sides in October. On Friday, Pep’s made it clear again that he doesn’t see the Argentine leaving Catalonia.
