The centre-back looked back at a decade in Barcelona's first team

Gerard Pique has spent 10 years in the Barcelona first team. To celebrate he spoke to the club about his path, and said he never could have imagined it being so successful. The end of the journey so far saw him elected as one of the club’s captains. A good moment.

“The balance is very, very good, I could never have expected to win ever what I have won, play in all I have played and had the importance that I have had over all these years. I feel privileged, I have enjoyed so much and I am still enjoying a lot here,” said Pique.

He won his 28th title with Barcelona on Sunday as they lifted the Spanish Super Cup. Pique said his best moment was “the Champions League in Berlin, it made me so excited, we came from some complex months and we won it all, the first treble was very good but the second signified this group of players did things that they never expected to.”

As a team-mate he hailed Carles Puyol. “He’s the one that’s left his mark on me the most, from the first minute he treated me as a brother, we played in the same position at Barca and with Spain and we got along very well. Despite having very different ways of being, we connected well from the first moment.”
