One in, one out, goes the popular saying... although on this occasion Philippe Coutinho's arrival came a little before Javier Mascherano's departure.
With the Argentine international's departure confirmed, Barcelona have confirmed that Coutinho will take over the No.14 shirt.
Curiously, the announcement comes just one day ahead of the Brazilian's potential debut, this Thursday against Espanyol in the Copa del Rey at Camp Nou (Barça lost the first leg of the quarterfinal tie 1-0).
After failing to sign him in the summer, Barca finally landed Coutinho earlier this month for potentially as much as 160 million euros, which would be double what they paid for Luis Suarez!

After the numbers 1-11 stopped being the staple of the starting lineup, various numbers have come into fashion. At Barça, the No.14 has always been special.
As well as Mascherano, it has also been worn by Jordi Cruyff, Thierry Henry, Emanuel Amunike, Gerard López (currently Barça B coach) and Santi Ezquerro.
