FC Barcelona to focus on breaking their stalemate with Braithwaite

Barça want to resolve the Braithwaite issue before the end of the summer transfer window on 1st September. Xavi has been very clear with the Dane about not counting on him.

The club wants to reduce the wage bill to wrap up their signings for the squad this season.

The club's management want to terminate Martin's contract, which expires on 30 June 2024. But the player has not made it easy.

The management, however, believe that the striker will eventually give in if only to escape his poor standing in the club and find a more accommodating destination.

Joan Laporta's board of directors intend to pay Braithwaite for one of the two years left on his contract, even though the player wants to be paid in full.

Barça believe that this negotiation will be the toughest of the exit operations. Talks are set to intensify over the next few days.

There are just over 48 hours to go until the summer transfer window closes and Barça have a lot of work ahead of them.

To finish putting together a competitive squad, the departure of players such as Braithwaite will be essential.
