Decision crunch time for Xavi and the Barça board as the transfer market close is around the corner

A meeting is currently taking place, with all the heavyweights of the club's board of directors, to make some crucial decisions with the market soon ending.

SPORT has confirmed that since early this morning there has been a meeting at the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper, which could see some vital decisions made for Barça's future.

The heavyweights of the board, which probably includes Xavi Hernández, have taken advantage of the team's day off to evaluate their options and decide which operations will now be closed and which discarded.

The market ends next Thursday at midnight, so Mateu Alemany, Joan Laporta, Jordi Cruyff and Rafa Yuste have until then to finish any last-minute signings.

The meeting will decide whether Marcos Alonso will be signed, who remains the coach's favourite option for the right-back position.

Juan Foyth is out for more than two months with injury, so FC Barcelona will pursue other options such as Meunier, Hector Bellerín, and Haman Traoré.

The coach does not count on Sergiño Dest, who is currently the only designated right back in the squad.

The latest bid from Chelsea for Aubameyang will also be analysed, as it would offer the club some leeway to make the desired signings. The imminent departures will also be discussed, especially those of Depay, Braithwaite and Dest.

With less than three days to go until the deadline, there are many issues to be resolved, the most important being that of the full-backs.
