The announcement of €1.5bn in funding could be made official on Friday

The FC Barcelona Board of Directors, meeting this Thursday, approved the financing plan for the Espai Barça, a project that will transform the club's facilities in the Les Corts district. This financing plan, however, is still not finalised, although it is now much closer to becoming a reality.

Barcelona have been working in recent weeks to unblock the financing plan for the 'Espai Barça'. The club's second and final proposal aimed to close the loan for the €1.5 billion the club needs to go ahead with the work.

The next step for Barça will be to make the financing plan official, which could come in the next few hours. Before that, however, the club will have to receive the OK from the investors.

Two policies renewed

Barcelona's Board of Directors, on the other hand, informed that this Thursday it approved the renewal of two credit policies that the club has in force with Caixabank and Banco Santander.

"In the case of the Caixabank policy, which expired on 30 April 2023, it has been extended until 30 April 2026, with a maximum amount of €17 million. As for the Banco Santander policy, which was due to expire on 15 May 2023, it is also extended for three years, until 15 May 2026, with a maximum amount of €32.5 million," Barcelona said.
