The forward has an offer from Sevilla but Barca want to keep him now

Munir El Haddadi’s future at Barcelona took a radical twist in recent hours. Coach Ernesto Valverde and the sporting staff have told the player they are satisfied with his evolution at Alaves on loan last season and have told him they would like him to stay at the club this season, despite offers arriving for him.

Barcelona’s initial idea was to keep Paco Alcacer in the squad and let Munir go, as long as Alcacer didn’t get a huge bid.

That proposal may come in the coming weeks so he would leave and they would not put obstacles in his way to go, provided they get the 30m euros they paid for him.

Alcacer’s exit would not be covered by a top level signing as it is considered the squad has sufficient offensive solutions. And that’s where Munir comes in, a player who impressed on loan. Valverde wants him as an alternative in attack.

The most tempting offer Munir has is a loan to Sevilla. They presented Barca with an offer the club consider sufficient and negotiations are open, but frozen. Barca are trying to retain Munir now and renew his deal. The striker is reticent to sign but Barca hope to seduce him with minutes and a percentage of a future sale. For now it seems he will have opportunities and Alcacer will go. That’s the current situation.
