The Organización Nacional de Trasplantes (ONT) reached this conclusion after investigating the events before, during and after the procedure

The Organización Nacional de Trasplantes (ONT) - National Transplant Organisation - have concluded that the liver transplant which was performed on former Barcelona player Eric Abidal "was carried out in accordance with the law". And, should the case be reopened, it'll be classified as a private accusation.

The ONT, in collaboration with the Hospital Clinic and the Organización Catalana de Trasplantes (OCATT), have revised "each and every one of the stages of the process" and found no wrongdoings whatsoever.

The ONT took charge of this investigation following information which was publicated on a digital platform that claimed there were irregularities in the process to find a donor for Abidal in 2012. Abidal was given a liver by his cousin.

Eric Abidal released an official statement following the original, unfounded claims against him as well as an image alongside his cousin Gerard when the two were in the Barna Clínic together at the Hospital Clínico de Barcelona.

Barcelona also denied any irregularities surrounding the transplant after conversations between the club's former president, Sandro Rossell, and the Police and Civil Guard were leaked.
