Eric Garcia will join Barcelona in exchange for 18 million euros, according to the journalist Josep Pedrerol on the show 'El Chiringuito'.
Barça and Manchester City reached an agreement for the defender to return 'home' over the weekend following the sale of Nelson Semedo to Wolves.
SPORT revealed at the beginning of the summer that Barça's intention was to sign Eric Garcia this season, even though he would be available for free next year when his contract expires.
The fact his deal is expiring gave room to negotiate. City wanted 23 million at first but Barça have managed to reduce it to land one of their top targets.
Eric Garcia will join Pique, Lenglet and Araujo as the club's four centre-backs, given that Samuel Umtiti doesn't have a future under new coach Ronald Koeman.
However, the official announcement will not be made until City find a new centre-back. Even before considering Garcia's departure, Pep Guardiola wanted a new defender.
Garcia won't play against Wolves on Monday in City's first game of the Premier League season in order to avoid injury.
In addition to Garcia, Barça will also target a new right-back with the Semedo money. Sergiño Dest and Max Aarons are among the targets.
